Blown Away By Great Customer Service

Last week I decided I wanted a to purchase a new jacket. I have been wearing the same one for close to two years. I have made a few trips to a couple different malls but just had not quite found what I was looking for. When it comes to shopping for clothes I am probably one of the most picky people!

Since I am such a picky person, it is very helpful when an associate at the store I am shopping at shows me their new clothing lines and explains what the new trends are.

After a few days of shopping I had finally found the jacket I was looking for, it looks pretty close to the Canada Goose jackets but is half the price! I tried on the jacket and immediately knew that I just had to have it! It was a nice shade of grey, which just happens to be one of my favourite colours. My friend that was with me along with the sales associate agreed that the jacket was nice and that I should buy it. The jacket fit but would be a little too snug over top of a large sweater, so I opted to go for a size bigger. To my disappointment the size I was looking for was not there.

I searched the store for the sales associate, who had helped me in the beginning, to see if there was possibly a size in the back. The associate responded saying she had checked for that size for a customer previously and that there was none in stock. I was told that not only were there none in this store but also that there were none in any store in Ontario. I found this a little hard to believe and asked her if she could please check anyways.

The associate came back what seemed like only seconds later proclaiming that she had been right and there was no size in the back. I then went to back to check out the other colours options that they had. Although I would be settling for another colour, the jacket itself would still be nice. There was the option of black or ivory. Since it is winter and light colours can get so dirty, I decided to go with the black.

I proceeded to the check-out to purchase the jacket. The cashier had previously seen me try on the grey jacket, she stated that she really liked the grey one and asked me what made me choose black? I told her they unfortunately did not have my size in the grey and she seemed puzzled. The cashier told me to wait and that she would go double check because she was sure they had plenty in the back and that they may not have had the time to stock the shelves with more yet. I was happy to hear I might get the jacket I initially wanted. I was also happy that some of the associates had customer service skills. I was a little annoyed that I might had wasted my time debating whether to get another colour.

The cashier emerged from the stock room holding a grey jacket in my size. She apologized for the lazy associate and the lack of customer service I had received. I thanked her for her assistance and proceeded to ask if a manager was in store. I did not want to complain about the other associate, I wanted to tell the manager that the cashier was a great help because of her excellent customer service skills. Thanks to the cashier, I was able to leave satisfied with my purchase. The cashier rebuilt the stores reputation with her service and I was able to overlook the poor service I had previously been given.

Even if you receive poor customer service, sometimes one pleasant and helpful associate is able to turn it all around. I continue to shop at the store now and always look out for the friendly cashier when I need some help.
